New York Distance Learning

Distance learning in New York is widespread at all levels of education. The New York State Distance Learning Consortium (NYSDLC) was founded back in 1994 when a number of educators involved in programming distance learning met to discuss networks, challenges, equipment, and more. Its mission is to promote and facilitate teaching and learning using interactive audio and video technologies to provide instruction in real time. The NYSDLC meets twice a year in Binghamton, NY.

Some of the universities offering distance learning degrees in New York include:

Empire State College - State University of New York

Erie Community College - 7% of all credits earned at this institution were by distance learning in 2008.

The SUNY Learning Network is the State University of New York's award-winning online education program administered by the Office of the Provost. Distance learning in NY and NYC is very widespread due to the great opportunities offered by these institutions.
