Florida National University began offering classes in January 1988 as Florida International Institute. Distance education programs were introduced in 2005 and the school’s name was officially changed in May 2012. Regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees, the university offers over fifteen degree programs 100% online.

In an effort to effectively prepare its students for learning in a distance education environment, Florida National University’s online office has developed and published a guide to online learning for students to utilize. Available on the school’s website, the online learning guide outlines important information for distance education students including FERPA, Student Responsibilities, Academic Advising, the Library, and available Clubs and Organizations for student involvement.

Job Placement Department

Now-a-days, many current and prospective students are wondering whether or not the pursuit of a college education is worth the time, effort, and money. Florida National University’s Department of Job Placement employs three full-time individuals who serve students on three campuses and online. Offering services and assistance with everything from searching for employment to negotiating salary, professional guidance is available during enrollment and once an individual achieves alumni status.

Ashley Benson is a distance education professional with five years of experience in the for-profit sector. She has worked coast-to-coast within the United States as an academic advisor, an adjunct teaching assistant and, most recently, a campus Registrar. Through formal education and industry experience, Ashley practices staying informed on the current events and changes within higher education and the students involved.
