Spotlight on Amberton University

It is in the interest of all schools to appeal to the widest possible student body. By encouraging diversity, an educational institution will attract the best students and brightest minds from all walks of life, which in turn benefits the school. That said, some schools will choose to focus on a particular group: there are gender and race specific schools, schools that focus in one field, etc. etc.

Amberton University is somewhat unique in that many years ago (starting in 1971) it started to focus on working adults returning to school. In fact, no one under the age of twenty one is invited to apply. This is a school with a clear, defined goal – to help working people enhance their education in a program that works around their busy schedule and caters to their more mature needs.

The teaching standards and expectations are exactly the same at Amberton on line as they are in an Amberton class room. The same professors that teach classes on campus also teach the on line classes, they follow the same criteria for grading and testing, and have the same overall expectations for learning from the students. Furthermore, there is no cost difference between attending in person or on line. This is the rare school where all students, near and far, are treated equally.

Amberton has been accredited to award Bachelor and Masters degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges, and has been officially recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Once a student has been accepted to Amberton, they gain access to the virtual university, which allows not only access to course, course information, and discussion boards, but also allows students to perform research via the Remote Research Services and communicate with professors and fellow students.
