In August of this year Sarasota, often thought of as a former circus-town now home to many retirees and snowbirds, will increase its number of higher education institution options by one. The University of South Florida’s Sarasota-Manatee campus will begin enrolling freshman and sophomore students for the first time. With both undergraduate degree programs and certificate options, students will have the opportunity to enroll in college while maintaining their local address.

Tuition
Tuition at the Sarasota-Manatee campus is cheaper than the main Tampa campus. For varies reasons, tuition is roughly 16 dollars per credit hour cheaper in Sarasota. For full-time students that could translate into over $200 in savings per semester and nearly $2000 over the course of 4 years!
Student Services
Because Tampa serves so many students, the regional benefits to students mirror that of a community college. Academic Advisors are available by appointment or by walking into the office during normal business hours and long lines are typically only found during peak times throughout the semester for Financial Aid, Admissions, and Advising. In addition, USF Sarasota-Manatee has close ties to the community which could amount to more opportunities for internships and employment.
