The campus is home to 15 different libraries, including one that is specifically for distance learners. UK offers distance learning courses and degree options with entirely online options, hybrids, and interactive video courses designed with the busy life of a working adult in mind.
There are dozens of online classes offered every semester, ranging from distance learning courses that operate in the normal semester framework, to independent study that are offered in correspondence formats. Two-way audio/video, discussion boards, and email/chat rooms are all utilized in different course to provide the most inclusive online experience for distance learners. For degree seekers, there are Bachelor, Master, and doctoral level tracts, as well as certifications that come in both hybrid and completely online formats.
The one undergraduate program is for those already having an Associate degree and results in a Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Leadership Management, but doesn’t use too much online learning, instead opting for evening classes in a live, interactive format, though there are some online aspects. There are, however, 2 completely online Master’s degrees including a Masters in Library/Information Studies and a Master in Rehabilitation Counseling Program, as well as an online Distance Education graduate certificate.
The College of Education also offers hybrid and online options in their MEd program, as well as their post-graduate Educational Specialist degree, and two doctoral level degrees (both a Doctor of Education and Philosophy). There are also hybrid offerings through the College of Fine Arts (Master of Music Education), College of Health Science (an MS in Physician Assistance Studies the combines interactive video and onsite, evening instruction and clinical experiences, a completely online Doctoral program in Physical Therapy for those already licensed, and a Philosophy PhD in Rehabilitation Services in a blended format).
The PhD in Nursing Practice and the Master of Social Work also mix online and on campus work, including interactive video. KU “embraces innovative curriculum-delivery methods in order to meet the growing needs of students” across most of its academics departments, looking to find the most encompassing way to deliver their renowned educational programs.
With a fast growing research aspect, combined with its already recognized academic and athletic programs, the University of Kentucky is a southern jewel of education, mixing traditional with cutting edge to create a learning environment that allows for an easy and quality transition from school to the working world.
